Melcourt Industries (located at Boldridge Brake), have submitted a new planning application to expand their site in Long Newnton. The application can be found on the Cotswold District Council Planning Portal and the reference is 21/04342/FUL or simply click on this link and it will take you straight there https://publicaccess.cotswold.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=R2Q4JPFIMWC00
The Parish Council are naturally concerned about the volume of very large lorries that are already passing through the village on a daily basis and worried that this will increase. Already the Long Newnton roads and verges which are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are being destroyed by lorries. We are also concerned about the Antisocial hours of operation – we are seeing HGV’s as early as 4.30am and as late as 11.30pm. (Vehicle movements are not restricted under their current planning consent). We have reports of residents not feeling safe (especially with children) to run, walk or cycle on either Church Lane or Crudwell lane due to the volume of HGV’s.
Help protect our beautiful village by having your say before this planning application is approved. We only have until 23 December to register our comments so please if you value village life in Long Newnton ACT NOW!
