Easter Week is when we celebrate Christ’s power over death, and rejoice in the hope of resurrection and life everlasting. Long Newnton took its part with the Stations of the Cross service on the Wednesday of Easter Week and with a well attended service on Easter Day.

We sadly shared the news of Bishop Michael’s death immediately
after Easter. His Ministry had a significant impact on the lives of individuals and worshiping communities across the Diocese and beyond.
He will be missed by many.

The Evening with Aggers in January was a huge success and our thanks go to Michael Tucker for organising it. Many amusing stories came from Aggers’, Ali Bruce Ball and Tina Cook and with Mike as compere there was much laughter.
There was a raffle, with local produce as prizes, and an auction, of,

1. tickets to a Test Match and time with the BBC commentary team,

2. a visit around Juddmonte Racing Stables in Newmarket with lunch, and

3. Tickets to Badminton Horse Trials and time with the commentary team.

Funds raised were divided with two thirds to Tetbury Hospital and one third to our Church.

Mike Tucker has announced that following Badminton Horse Trials next month he will step down from being BBC Equestrian Commentator after 40 years with them. He called 3 gold medals in the 2012 London Olympics. A great career. He had been church warden in Long Newnton for almost as long when he retired 2 years ago. He will not though be hanging up his boots.

Gloucester repelled La Rochelle giants in the Rugby Challenge Cup semi-final. Their plan worked, they dug deep and now they are in the final.

Thanks to the Parish Council we have a new and updated website. Please take a look. www.longnewnton.org  This is still a work in progress and evolving all the time.

The council have also had good work done to the trees around the village improving their look and health. They are looking especially good down the green lane opposite the church.

Rogation Sunday Service is on 14th May 11.15am so come with all your animals and enjoy the outside, (weather permitting), element of this wonderful service with Martin Green.
